#Amethyst users when running on TOR, do you also find it impossible to zap Wallet of Satoshi? I do not like custodial wallets but some of the plebs that have it are OK. Any ideas nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpzamhxue69uhhv6t5daezumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgswaehxw309ahx7um5wghx6mmd9u2mk7fe

Have you asked wos whether they support/allow tor?

No. Wouldn't know how to as I really don't like custodial wallets. It's a recent thing though, I used to be able to zap them but now I can't. I can't remember who it was that had a similar problem. I have to not use Tor for a zap to go through

Try now as a test without turning off, please 🫢

I changed in my settings to force Tor in money operations, but it seems it's not that

It's WoS, I believe. It says too many requests in their living room. I guess that Tor and it doesn't mix?

Full house πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜œπŸ€£

Lots of people use it. I am a firm believer that a "trusted" third party is a weak link and a potential rug

I have to check the noncustodial thing ....what's the name again?

Name?

G something

You've lost me? What are you asking?

You told me the other day to check something to learn about and set a noncustodial wallet. I forgot the name.

I don't remember that. A non custodial wallet is a wallet that you have the keys, the seed words. WoS holds your keys and therefore, like a bank, own your money. You are trusting them not to steal it.

Non custodial wallets are your responsibility, usually aren't as slick as custodial wallets but cannot rug pull your arse. I run a node with LND for lightning. I use #alby to connect it to #nostr and other stuff but I use #Zeus on my phone. I prefer it. You can use #Zeus as a node on your phone. You would need to open a channel to use it but I would help you should you choose to go that way.

Can you try rest again ?

Pleeeeease and thank you

Didn't go through

Ok, then is WoS.

I tried once to set a Zeus. I will try it again and ask for help if needed.

You already warned me too many times...my intuition is kicking.

Being a bitcoiner is about being sovereign. In my opinion. There is no point advocating for a system that is trust less, permissionless etc...and then putting your money in a wallet that acts like a bank. They could, if they wanted, not let you have your money. They could just take it. They could stop you getting paid by certain people.

Agreed

I don't play with my intuition. I empty my Coinos wallet 3 days before they got ripped. lol

It's not luck, it's called "paying attention" to signs.

Thank you. Finally I understood what a noncustodial wallet is.

can confirm the same behaviour here

I use Tor and have had a bad time sending zaps.

To everyone or just WoS?

Seems random, potentially to anyone. In Amethyst the little zap circle spins 3/4 of the way around and then just stops.

And you don't get a message telling you why it has failed?

I suggest you change one setting and it is to remove your wallet setup from Amethyst...

Why?

1. You keep your Ameghyst in full privacy

2. When you try to zap someone Amethyst will open a prompt for you to select the wallet you want to use to zap, which means you are not married to a wallet to send zaps and is quite fast and convenient the same.

3. This does not affect you receiving zaps at all.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure that is viable but I'll look into it. It just seems odd it is only a problem with wos
