We started to do calorie counting.

So funny, that the usual reaction is,

1️⃣ Why do you do that? You are thin.

2️⃣ I wouldn't be able to do it.

Always...

I think the real deal is, we are thinner than them, and this makes them look bad, that they don't do it, but they should. They rather try to bring off us from doing it, so they don't look bad.

Why do we take things, that other people do (that we shall also do) as an offense, instead of taking it as a starting point to do them ourselves, if we need them?

Also my interesting opinion about calorie counting is:

You can eat anything "without punishment", you just need to do more excercises.

Crabs in a bucket mentality. I saw it a lot when I stopped drinking, and again when I lost a lot of weight. A strange human habit.

GFY is the best answer to crap mentality

💯

Didn't know about this "mentality".

Sad for them.

Fortunately, I am not influenced by this. But this is really bad for those people who can be pulled back by this.

It made things harder for me for sure, having people always second guess what I had chosen to do. In the end I succeeded though, 100lb lost and kept off for a decade, still sober too! I learned something about setting goals and perseverance .

That is great! Great job nostr:npub1m64hnkh6rs47fd9x6wk2zdtmdj4qkazt734d22d94ery9zzhne5qw9uaks! 🔥🔥

I think if you can succeed in such environment, you will get a stronger personality, because you know people will try to pull you back.

But if you don't get through, you will only start to doubt yourself even more.

Counting calories is often just bullshit since it doesn’t represent nutrition.

You should have calories with nutritional value and the rest will come by itself.

Problem is that most people eat empty calories with zero nutrients

I fully aggree!

Not only calories matter.

Somehow I think it is important to pay attention to calories. E.g. I really like Cashew nuts, they seem healthy. Also have some protein in it, but a lot of fat and calories. So it might not make sense to eat a lot of them for daily protein intake. Just an example.

I don't think people should diet but should change their diet. If you eat nutritious, non processed food you shouldn't need to count calories. No one got fat from eating too many cashews.

This 💯

I fully agree with changing your lifestyle instead of dieting.

I think calorie counting is a nice tool, no shame in that. Not sure if you eat nutritious then you won't be fat. May not work for everyone. You may not reach what you want.

Somehow as I am an engineer, I like measurements. If you can measure it, you can improve it.

Also if you do calorie counting for only a while, you will be more conscious about your food choices, which is good. Also if you pay attention to eat nutrious, you might also need to put some effort, so you are not too far from calorie counting.

Being conscious about your food choices are a good option regardless of limiting your daily calorie intake or not. I think the world is at the current state because the lack of consciousness.

I don't see calorie counting as a restrictive diet, or as an evil bad thing. I see it as a way, to keep your weight at your desired level. Also it can help you realize misbeliefs about eating, your eating habbits, etc.

I am not here to convince anyone. I wanted to only talk about the interesting aspect of people, when you do such things.

Not saying it is a bad thing! Sure can understand it but the quality of calories if way more important than the quantity. And people these days think the food they eat is nutritious while it’s not (f.e. Seed oils, oats, refined carbs,…)

Exactly!

Somehow for me, if you count calories, you count protein, fat, carbohydrates. But that is correct, that by saying count calories, you can't guess. So sorry for the misunderstanding.
