Most people use pseudo identities on Nostr. But Nostr is such a powerful technology, I’d love to see it used in mainstream systems but many such systems required actual identities for background checks etc.

How could we enable real profiles on the network without leaking all the public information?

Even if we tried to do such a thing with pseudo identities, if they’re used everywhere in real life, they’ll very soon make it obvious/inferable what the real identity of a pseudonym is.

Could we have multisig encrypted profiles somehow such that only yourself and the other party can decrypt your data?

This thought process originated from brainstorming how I could propose to my corporate fiat mine to adapt their products to support Nostr too. But I don’t think they’d want to work with pseudonymous clients.

Background checks are needed for KYC rules on accepting payments. NOSTR + Bitcoin throws all that away. Become ungovernable.

Yeah. But maybe there’s a way to peg into the KYC world without doxing.

It’s easier said than done to “become ungovernable” as much as I am totally for it!

Pegging is an anal sex act in which a woman penetrates a man’s anus with a strap-on dildo, and it’s the perfect word for someone willingly choosing to KYC themselves.

forget trying to validate the nostr account from within nostr. The model prevents it. If it matters, simply post the npub of #nostr account on all existing social media of org for verification in Normievillle
