Anything that doesn't have at least two levels of replies can go, IMO. Trendlist spam.

Sounds like the social media grind is even worse here now that real money, and not karma, is the reward.

I think Twitter et al trained people to scroll, hit the like, and move on. Now they just hit the zap.

We don't have to leave it like that, tho. It's a design decision. We can create high-signal clients.

The engineer in you is showing 🤣

It's the entire attention economy, not social media design. Celebrities exist everywhere, most want to be one, and they all want to convince us to give our time to them instead.

Social media still needs to compete with Games, Hollywood, Family and Friends, and design doesn't change this. Social media just isn't as attractive as the other options.

Maybe, but I'm working on the design and trying to think of how to build something less toxic and tawdry. A high-signal client.

It's a niche market, but it's my market.

I complain about stuff on here, sometimes, and people rush to tell me to "respect the devs" and it's like... I am a dev, you midwit.

I'm trying to brainstorm a solution because I think best aloud. It sort of unfolds and expands, as I go along.

But they can't fathom that someone can name a problem and then simply think up a possible solution.
