Is it too much to ask for, to not put "AI" in every single product? Like everything from smartphones to cars has an AI something in it that i doubt anyone asked for. AI to help you take better pics or AI to optimize your search or AI to extend battery life or AI assistent... bla bla bla! Most of it is probably hype but given how data hungry their models are, more AI = more surveillance.

Unfortunately, consumers have proven their willingness to lap up anything that has the new flavor... I mean think how stupid it is to have a smart tv or a smart fridge or a smart anything, listening and watching everything you do.... people bought it cuz it was "smart"... that's some idiocracy level intelligence going on right there... and ai is the simply new marketing strategy to help implement the digital panopticon.

This is why we really need to focus on creating new options and parallel systems... which is great to see taking place here on nostr!

Pretty sure the only reason anyone is buying a smart fridge or smart TV is because they don't have access to a regular TV or fridge to buy.

Nobody is stupid enough to want a smart fridge, the fact is that you can not buy a normal fridge new anymore.

If you want a normal fridge or a normal tv you have to buy second hand.

Great points... if you can get a hold of grandma's old fridge, nab that thing. You can disable the "smart" features, but like you said, it's being configured by default to screw with you.

It's the same with AI.

Nobody is choosing AI.

Google and apple are just forcing it onto people

Agreed... I'm not a fan of the release of AI... so many things wrong with the way it's everywhere and we're just supposed to shrug and deal with it.
