I use the bokashi method as a pre compost for either worm bins or regular compost.
It is good to hold small amounts of food scraps and begin to break them down prior to adding them to an aerobic pile.
This method would have advantage for households to reduce the smell and retain carbon in the small quantities of food scraps until it can be hot composted.
It also allows the household to keep a bin in the house which is more convenient for daily contributions. People who add daily to outdoor bins end up with some dried out veggie scraps so the initial boost helps. It is also viable to compost meat and dairy leftovers.
I have had issues with this method not killing off veggie seeds so after it goes through the worm bin there may be gobs of viable tomato seeds for instance which is not ideal for compost that goes in your garden. Thus better to hot compost the bokashi pre compost to eliminate seeds.
Just my 2 satoshis 🙂
