We find great joy in creating compost and worm bins on a small scale. We invite you to join fellow enthusiasts at #Compostodon, where you'll find a community passionate about composting. This simple practice is an act of love for the climate and a gift to your soil, enriching it with life.

You got this !!!

Compost helps make our world a little bit better one bucket at a time.

Covid is a pestilence that kills people every day...

If denying this was any efficient we would have noticed by now.

#CovidIsNotOver #maskup

This video is a No-Dig Gardening Masterclass with Charles Dowding

Ever since we have tried no-dig even on a very heavy clay native soil, we just can't go back to normal.

You indeed need a lot of compost for a no-dig garden and this is why we wanted to master all of this.

Since haters decided to show up let me here be extra clear.

I am a transgender person and this server and tool has rules. If on #transdayofvisibility you show up with your hatred and you think you can spray your hatred I will not remotely care to block and report everyone who thinks they can and ask all of my followers to do the same.

I will have no mercy for those who even try to troll this community.

AI services contribute to the #climatechange

We support fully the choice of #mastodon to limit the use of AI. This is why we chose to exclusively post our content here.

There is a rich of tech companies to use the latest AI technologies but if it is to the detriment of our planet we are not going to care for it.

Not using AI is resistance and a thing you can do if you wish to help the #climate.

The climate IS changing we observe this every day in our gardens.

The fact that here we can let worm bins over winter outside with the worms being fine is not normal. That is one of the many examples we have to manage differently.

If we want to change things we have to start changing our habits where we live at.

Every day we should be asking ourselves, what have I done for the climate today? If we expect the elites to fix anything we are doomed because those people bet on climate events to make money.

Hopefully one day, those people will be brought before just for their crimes against humanity.

Be the change you want to see.

Many people will use the excuse that we need to save the economy to justify quitting on the climate.

Those who raised me taught me that to have a comfortable life, you have to study to get good jobs that you can keep for several decades, then buy a house and provide a comfortable situation for those you love.

What will it take for these people to understand that it is the Earth that provides for the economy and your comfort, I do not know.

The truth is, without a healthy planet, you can forget about your privileges. Your money will not save you from a ruined climate.

The climate is far more important than the economy and the next generations deserve better than our greed and pride that are their destroyers.

nostr:npub147cs3tl7d2e9uhzns8wyreacdh8sw25092jjf5ka4uycvr2rqhnsu527uk We are having the issue with a cat that has kidney problems, even the vet said it was not uncommon... The really good brands are terribly expensive.

Finally did the first mowing of the season today.

We have an entirely manual push lawnmower, no gas or electrical, it is nice because it does not make any noise and you don't have to pay anything to use it.

It is a simple system of chop and drop that allows the clippings to be dropped where it is mowed.

The first grass clippings are always nice to use in a hot compost pile. I like to mix, fall leaves and wood chips, grass clippings, and worm compost.

You sure don't eat the grass but you can compost it to make your own fertilizer.

We are having a tornado warning the weather smells like it. We are in February. This is not normal folks. I have to go secure the gardens and the compost station.

This is why if you want to earn a free block and report come show your ass about how #climatechange is not a thing.

The #COP28 has ended.

For month we had people explaining on this profile that individual actions can not fix the #climatecrisis

What this conference has confirmed us, is that the elites do not want to take the #climatechange seriously and can not propose a global coordination to fix it.

The fact that conferences on the #climate fail to answer the crisis one after another show us that sadly individual actions is all that we have left.

Now if you act like the elitesonthe climate by not caring about i, the consequences will be on you and your kids. That is the debt you are working on.

For us it is unthinkable to explain our kids that their future is not a priority and that we we not brave enough to take action for them.

It is cowardice to hide behind the herd or to pretend that a problem can't be fixed by us.

Composting concrete solution that anyone can do to to reduce the global gasses produced by the landfills that we create.

Wwe do not fix a problem by pretending it does not exist.

This account is an individual actions that attempts to inspire the #fediverse to reduce their waste. All of those who disrespect this action will be blocked. We do not have time for this kind of negativity because our elites don't care about the climate.

If we do not talk a lot about bokashi composting it is because it is one of the rare method we do not use.

The issue I have with it is that it is anaerobic where by definition the compost is aerobic. Air is a capital ingredient of the compost recipe.

Now I am not saying that bokashi does not work. It works great and will allow you to put what you would normally would not put into your compost bin like meat or dairy.

So it is another way to reduce waste but this method will smell bad. You have to seal your bins really well.

If you want to advocate for this method please do so in the comments. Be kind.

What I have been saying for a few years is now a reality. We have changed from zone 7 to zone 8 in just a few years... 😱

This was one of the reasons I decided to create this account to inspire people to compost at home.

Composting is a simple #climateaction that anyone can do.

#ClimateChange is a reality and I refuse to be a loser about it. My kid's future is a priority and I wish to tell them I did something for them.

https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/home

I've often heard that you could not change the climate with personal actions.

I believe this to be wrong. If one day my kids or the next generation ask me what have I done for the climate, I don't want to answer them it was someone else responsibility to do that so I did not care to act and your future was not a priority.

Because at this point that is what we will have to tell them. We are borrowing their planet.

Just read an article online explaining how vinegar was a good ingredient to help plants germinate because it helps break the coat of the seeds.

Quite frankly the best thing to germinate seeds is worm casting. Add it to your potting mix, or soak your seedling in some aerated compost tea one minute before transplanting.

We are slowly introducing our composting worms to cotton and letting them eat old clothes.

Those creatures are amazing.

And so on until you are satisfied with a height. Inside the pile, you will want to add an activator. Urine will do the job. Make sure you water each layer deeply so that it reaches a high temperature. Then turn the pile every two or three days until you are happy with the result

This is a garden bed prepped with our deep compost mulch.

Everything here is free, organic, homemade, and made with hand tools only.

Earthworms helped make this happen. When we say they do wonders we mean that.
