The cypherpunk dream was not to create a decentralized, uncensorable, and unforgeable electronic currency like Bitcoin; the cypherpunk dream was to create a free market.
But to create a free market, you need a currency like Bitcoin.
Unfortunately, everyone has forgotten this.
Already in Atlas Shrugged, they anticipated this decades in advance, creating a parallel community in the valley and using gold as currency.
A Lodging of Wayfaring Men not only anticipates the creation of Bitcoin but also Silk Road through the Gamma trading platform, and in this book it is very clear that the real goal is to create a free market through cryptography. Electronic money is only part of the game, but it is obviously necessary.
We have completely lost sight of the goal, or perhaps Bitcoin users are simply unaware of the history of the cypherpunks and their goal.
When you hear someone say that Bitcoin does not have to be money, only a store of value, think about what I have told you, because then the bad guys have won. To say this is supine ignorance; run away from those who hold this opinion.
Bitcoin must be both money and a store of value, as gold was for millennia.
Unfortunately, we have forgotten the important part: creating a decentralized market so that Bitcoin can be used outside the state. If this happens, Bitcoin will just be a toy that feeds the state system, and the fiat system will last forever.
