I honestly bought my gooseneck kettle with temperature control to make coffee with, though it's great for tea too -- particularly green and white teas where you really don't want a full boil. Coffee should be made with water around 200F for optimal alkaloid extraction, and the gooseneck is great for using with a Chemex pourover pot.

I guess growing up we did always have just a stovetop kettle, but it seems like the electric kettles get more popular among folks that get stuck dealing with college dorm conditions, where you often don't get a stove, but you do get outlets. Right up there with rice cookers and instant pots.

Anyway, this is a great video for procrastinating with, as it doesn't accidentally actually accomplish anything.

Despite being tea drinkers, we primarily use ours to boil water for the hob.

Hob? Like, hobgoblin?

Wait for when you will watch the 1h video about a basic fridge. Or the video about electromechanical pinball... in 3 parts of 50min each.

If this guy would be a science teacher, he would rise the rate of kids getting into engineering studies by a factor 10.
