Why hasn’t “Block” pushed a software update to everyone using a square payments terminal for Lightning invoices?

Allegedly because merchants don’t care enough about it.
This would be so awesome, something I've hoped for but hasn't happened. It could be so simple in the UI most wouldn't even know it's bitcoin if they don't care to but I'm sure it is very complicated to actually get approval to roll something like that out.
Tax treatment would be a nightmare but man I would use lightning for everything and keep minimal USD if this ever happens.
With all the money they save from not having to pay credit card processing fees, merchants could hire bitcoin accountants like nostr:npub1drlw0wmu9tq37usx4qt3u6u4zj44mrf3zsfa6xhcdyrh3n4wpmgqr4rfg0 and still come out way ahead.
