Very surprising that Bitcoin predates nostr by 10 years. In many ways, Bitcoin is solving a much harder problem.

I feel like nostr is just UUCP/Usenet upgraded with cryptographic identities, though. It's not that decentralized discussions are new—just that most people forgot why they were important.
Basically, yes. The technology to make nostr existed 30 years ago. I think people just got too comfortable with centralized services that worked /well enough/ at the time.
