February means tax season is officially in full swing!

We often get asked about the best tools for tracking bitcoin taxes and most of what is available focuses on serving crypto broadly and is not customizable. So we put together a simple spreadsheet to share with the community.

There are two versions, one in google sheets and the other in excel.

This is our first version and we would love to make continued improvements based on user feedback.

Currently it tracks gains/losses based on FIFO/LIFO/HIFO and your current cost basis of coins held.

Can the excel file be hosted on nostr:npub1nxy4qpqnld6kmpphjykvx2lqwvxmuxluddwjamm4nc29ds3elyzsm5avr7 or similar? Having trouble downloading to iPhone using safari

For free uploads we only support standard media. With a nostr.build account, you can upload .pdfs and .zips (can have an excel in it), but not excels directly no.

I keep getting " exceeded maximum execution time" when running the HIFO script on the Google sheets doc. Any ideas? I have about 500 transactions because of 2 weeks where I did hourly DCA

I was able to get it working by batching my hourly DCA to daily transactions, reducing it from 500 to 90 transactions. It worked great then! However, the BTC price tool would timeout if there were more than 10-20 transactions no matter what I did. Thank you so much for releasing such a great tool!

Great, we made an update with historical price data saved in the file, so google doesn't have to pull as much information every time. If you go to the same link you can try out the new version.

Yes that works way better! The macro still errors out with 500 transactions though
