Feels like a pyramid scheme.

Look at all this money I’m making. You can make it too if you pay for the membership. Then you can get your followers to pay for theirs and you’ll make the money. Then I can say look at all my followers making money.

And this setup can’t happen here?

There’s no boss here

Does the internet have a boss?

Zaps-kinda like shock collars on sheep.

While I would also prefer a decentralised and free solution, this is not a pyramid scheme. What the people are paying for is a network that is "free" from public mainstream media influence.

Naturally, for X this means that those people prefer paying for Musk's control and at least trust his promise to allow free speech.

I personally find that free speech is something that no platform can provide unless it is fully decentralised but I am also paying for X today, because from what I can see it definitely provides me with an additional point of view compared to mainstream media.

Even if I disagree with someone's view on an issue and consider it stupid; I do not believe there should be an arbiter of truth.

The truth can only be found through engaging with a broad range of world views and show curiosity rather than blind dismissal.
