TSA will soon require Real ID, which features facial recognition biometrics, for air travel. Most states already comply with the standard. If there is a little star on your driver’s license they already have it.

I’ve loosely been following this. still have the old ID, which I believe they extended support for another couple years. I used to travel a lot, now I dread it.

Get a Passport card. Cost $10 in the US and works just as good as the Real ID if not better.

A passport card is Real ID compliant.

That’s what I mean. Less hassle and work for the same outcome.

Global Entry is the next step up, and require fingerprints and picture which het encoded onto your passport. If you're curious how effective their facial recognition is, they trust it for entry back into the US there is no passport check, you stand in front of a kiosk and it confirms your ID and passes you throught.
