I was thinking about #nostr and stumbled upen the question that Why did we get #nostr now and not before 5 years ago or 10 years ago? What was the innovation that was stopping #nostr protocol to be developed, was it some cryptography thing or development in computer science or any other protocol?

It was probably the de-platforming trend on mainstream social media, that woke people up to the necessity of such a protocol, rather than technological drivers
