Found nostr band always had trouble accurately calculating zaps
the site is currently reporting less than 20k active users, that is way off
How do you figure? Is there another source?
i appreciate the project, and brugeman alot. but yeah. the numbers are off. at least for follows and zaps sent.
not sure it’s possible to get accurate numbers though because of the nature of the protocol
Everyone knows there's actually 24 active user (blokes) on nostr

These are "trusted users" - those with non-zero trust rank that we use to filter spam. You can turn-on raw numbers if you want, but those are meaningless and fluctuate wildly. I don't think anyone else even attempted to calculate some sane numbers that filter out bots, so there's nothing to compare to. We published our raw event data sets a while ago, if anyone wants to run their own numbers, I'd be happy to see an alternative view.
Keep those numbers below reality. The less they think people use Nostr, the less they'll try to take it out.
Once Nostr takes off they will seize nodes, ban IPs, etc., in the name of false narratives like hate speech, domestic terrorism, insurrectionists, anti-semite, or whatever anti free speech nonsense they manage to come up with.
No global feed seriously limits the freedom of reach.
Nostr over Meshtastic, there's some hope there.
