Get a mini PC, flash StartOS onto it and you’ll be set. It’s super easy. I fucked around with other implementations of it for a while and StartOS is the way to go.

It’s a little sketch that you can’t figure it out with all of the tutorials available online and the fact that it’s open source.

So I tried with IOS and a hard drive - the internet connection was decent.. it got to like 75% downloaded and then bombed out… is Rasberry PI maybe the option? I am mining at least on the little BITaxe miners..

No you need a dedicated machine on StartOS or Umbrel.

I’ll google and learn and report back… 🙏

Hit me up if you need any help. Good luck. I’d recommend getting a little mini PC with a 2TB SSD or a server pure direct from start9 if you want something that is ready to go straight out of the box 👊🏽

My challenge is my location to get the hardware here… I shall reach out to my local techie on BTC and see what he says.. I need to run a node.. it’s just getting the right stuff..

Here’s what ChatGPT has to say about running a node on MacOS

Yes, you can run a Bitcoin Core node on macOS, but not on iOS due to Apple’s restrictions and iOS’s sandboxing model.

Running a Bitcoin Core Node on macOS

Bitcoin Core provides official macOS binaries, making it relatively straightforward to set up a full node.

Steps to Install Bitcoin Core on macOS

1. Download Bitcoin Core:

• Visit the official Bitcoin Core website and download the macOS .dmg file.

2. Install Bitcoin Core:

• Open the .dmg file and drag Bitcoin Core into the Applications folder.

3. Run Bitcoin Core:

• Open Bitcoin Core from Applications.

• It will prompt you to choose a data directory (default: ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin).

• Ensure you have at least 500GB of free disk space if you want to run a full node.

4. Enable Full Node Settings (Optional but Recommended):

• If you want to contribute to network security and decentralization, enable full node mode.

• Modify the bitcoin.conf file (located in ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/bitcoin.conf) with the following:

server=1

listen=1

maxconnections=50

• If you want to expose your node to the public, forward port 8333 on your router.

5. Verify Synchronization:

• The node will start downloading the entire Bitcoin blockchain.

• Use the command line to check status:

bitcoin-cli getblockchaininfo

• Expect the initial sync to take several hours or days, depending on your internet speed.

Why Can’t You Run a Bitcoin Core Node on iOS?

• App Store Restrictions: Apple does not allow background processes or apps that download large amounts of data continuously.

• Resource Limitations: iOS devices have limited storage and are not optimized for blockchain nodes.

• No Official iOS Support: Bitcoin Core is designed for Windows, macOS, and Linux but not for mobile operating systems.

Alternative for iOS:

If you want to interact with Bitcoin nodes on iOS:

• Use a lightweight wallet like BlueWallet or Muun that connects to remote nodes.

• Run your own Bitcoin Core node on a Mac, PC, or Raspberry Pi, and connect to it remotely via a mobile app like Zeus Wallet or Mempool.space.

I’d recommend watching some vids on BTC Sessions on YouTube

I’ve watched a couple.. I’ll rewatch them.. thanks for the advice 🤙🏻
