Interesting, haven't encountered this perspective before. I have always attributed the modding to the technology, to its being analog, not to FOSS. The Bible doesn't provide permission to freely modify or distribute derivatives of itself. People have done it, but basically against the terms of service (Deut 4:2, 12:32, Prov 30:5-6, Rev 22:18-19).

Are you speaking metaphorically? Or are you placing ideas in the category of software?
