Yes. It’s written in rust and uses the tauri framework.
Underlying framework for messaging quite simple and the difficulty abstracted away? Watched a video way back and looked “non trivial” to code it up. What main features are still needed? UX/UI stuff is generally easier to start on …

An infinite list of features! 😉 Check out the github issues on the repo. I'm still working on organizing it a bit better but there is a lot in there.
Many other devs helping yet? A “first issue” tag would be good (if not already). Have starred the repo. Not got a great laptop for dev with me atm. But we definitely need better (and more private) messaging apps.
Just a few so far. There is a good first issue tag there but I haven’t added it to much yet.
