Simplicity.
Keychat is using multiple different encryption schemes for different chat types and also mixing in pay to send messages.
White Noise uses Messaging Layer Security for all chats whether it’s a DM or a group of 100,000. We’re focused on building a super safe, super performant messenger with beautiful and easy to understand UX.

Yes. It’s written in rust and uses the tauri framework.
Underlying framework for messaging quite simple and the difficulty abstracted away? Watched a video way back and looked “non trivial” to code it up. What main features are still needed? UX/UI stuff is generally easier to start on …

An infinite list of features! 😉 Check out the github issues on the repo. I'm still working on organizing it a bit better but there is a lot in there.
Many other devs helping yet? A “first issue” tag would be good (if not already). Have starred the repo. Not got a great laptop for dev with me atm. But we definitely need better (and more private) messaging apps.
Just a few so far. There is a good first issue tag there but I haven’t added it to much yet.
