Is everyone ditching alby or something? I've been denied zapping many getalby users.
I've also considered not using them after this trial period of 3 months and half off the 21,000 sat/month price tag. Seems steep as the btc prive climbs. It would be fine in the bear market but when it pumps it's costing more and more every month.

Is this happening all around the world with them? I think it’s a little steep to pay each month so if that’s what they will be doing I’m going back to WoS.

I'd rather risk the rug with ecash than use alby 🤣 I only have a handful of sats there for zapping, but that is just my preference. I also have some negative bias because when I first joined nostr i really didn't like the alby setup flow, and the zaps failing.

Yep, I should have highlighted that you’re sunsetting your custodial wallet by 3 Jan 2025, not the subscription-based Alby Hub hosted in the cloud or the free self-hosted Alby Hub. For me though, I’m not at the stage in my lightning journey where my needs call for a monthly subscription to zap a few sats here and there, nor to manage channels. Might change later though…
You do not need to manage channels. Only open one, and you are set to go. There are no rebalancing or other routing node-related difficulties.

I just setup my coinos. Just have to force close my 170,000 sat channel I started with Alby. Idk how to yet, but I'll find out.

Custodial solutions are easy but come with risks, while self-custodial Alby Hub is safer and re-empowers users but users need to open their first channel.
