NostrChat.io seems pretty cool and is close enough to replace Telegram imo. Very promising!

Already has:

- The chat UI is good,

- Supports emojis,

- Gif support with giphy integration

- Threaded replies

- Mute

- Timestamps

- Delete messages

- Mentions

Missing / Wish List:

- I cannot tell if the channels are private and require invite, but it seems that way. 
 - Pinned notes

- Upload images or copy/paste them (not a big deal atm)

- Maybe some UI upgrades like an icon on Channels and DMs for quick differentiation.

- Light mode for normies

- Feedback link or button

- Some strange encryption issues with DMs where the message is scrambled and takes time to unscramble

- Notifications when someone mentions you with @ (perhaps you get a DM or something?

Oddly enough, one of my concerns is that this doesn’t get maintained long term. Kinda wish it monetized somehow and devs were active on nostr

I don’t know what’s stopping this app from replacing telegram right now? What’s missing? Why not just use this?

Great development. Didn't know about it.

However, I was wondering when messengers based on nostr would start to appear. Nostr relay infrastructre could be leveraged by existing encrypted apps to become less centralized.

Let's see what happens..

Indeed, NostrChat.io UX seems good enough to replace Telegram.

What's holding me back of using it - probably just the "network effect".

In other words, all the normies contacts and groups already established in Telegram can't be moved easily.

What I do not understand, why even some #Bitcoin groups keep using legacy tools and not solutions build based on #Nostr ?

With Twitter many users kind of reached the point of no return and Nostr fully replaced it.

Hope the same will happen with other tools soon, like Telegram, WhatsApp and eBay!

🤷‍♂️ simplex definitely has a place for more secure and sensitive communication.

Nostr chat seems good for public channels where you don’t care about privacy so much

come for privacy too! Just a matter of time until NostrChat tech leapfrogs Telegram.
