I don’t think “not allowed” is correct. Though how wise it can be to argue on the internet can vary a lot based on circumstances of the moment and who is listening.

Maybe involve your family in internet conversations? It could be a really enriching opportunity for your kids especially to help them explore why this person is wrong and what the best thing to say is.
