How much it cost to have a baby in America (Tennessee)

- Ultrasound “cost us $2,067.85”

- Hospital stay observation room $413.65

- The recovery room cost us $2,702.45

- “A hospital stay, I don't know how that's different, but that one cost us $4,438

- The emergency room cost us $1,932.90

- Laboratory, that cost us an additional $1,439.20

- Then we go into labor and delivery — we got charged $10,593.40

- Then our anesthesia. So my epidural cost us more than anything else. That one was $14,446.15

- Pharmacy cost $3,007.25

- “Supplies cost $565.03”

So the grand total for everything came out to $33,011.73. But that was just for our stay. We also had to pay for Aspen, our newborn daughter, to be in the hospital.

- her hospital stay to stay with us in the room that we also paid for was $4,008

Our complete hospital bill cost $37,019.73

“Was it worth it? Yes. — Yes. It was worth every penny, but she was an expensive baby. It's a lot of money.”

what about insurance?

This is what happens when tap water is fluoridated and social media addiction creates rampant narcism..,

crazy … in germany all of that is backed by the basic insurance but calculated over the years, it will probably remain more expensive

“I don't get it. Why are they confessing?”

“They're not confessing. They're bragging.”

How much it costs me in Germany when my neighbors have a baby…

My sanity, cause they’ll raise it as a little socialist moron

Where else these days can you find prices that end in something other than "$___.99"?

The insurance price negotiation hard at work 🤣

How many people are pulling in 37k a year after tax that they can smile and make videos like nah not a big deal, am I missing something here?

This. Might be the inly benefit of being canadian

There is no free lunch bro. We pay for healthcare just the same, except we pay it through coersion, taxation and fiat inflation. Our healthcare system sucks because of misaligned incentives. If i ever have a serious health issue, im going to find private healthcare outside of canada in some free-er market..

Canada sucks on all counts i want a new deal as a state with a constitution.

Is this real?

But they are children themselves, how can they have children

We had our second at home with midwives it was a fantastic experience much less stress for Mom and therefore baby as well. Highly recommend. So many people think it's dangerous, it is not doctors and STRESS cause most complications

Protip: don't ever go to a hospital unless you or the baby are in actual danger of dying (should be a tiny percentage of people).

Home birth is so nice and costs a fraction of this (if you choose to have a midwife- otherwise its basically free)

My daughter was 6 weeks early and was in the nicu for 5 weeks. I don’t remember the total since insurance paid for all of it, but I know it was over $100,000 and that was in 2008

There's no way any of these things should cost that much, we need free markets in medicine and healthcare again.

Had ours at home - about $2k for 9 months and delivery
