This is so wrong in so many ways. 1. The sun is out 24 h in the north only during the summer. This model doesn't explain 24h of darkness in winter. 2. The system doesn't explain the reverse effects for the south. 3. The moon can be visible during the day.
The sun and moon are the same size and very close to us, so as they follow their circular track, different parts of the earth are lit/dark, creating timezones
This is also why when you go way up north, the sun is out nearly 24hrs a day, and never sets in some places
The seasons are caused by the sun/moon track narrowing and widening their path annually - attached a few videos below to explain further!
