Midwest translation for ya

"Yea, no" = confirmation of a negative statement, as in "yes, you are correct, the answer is no." OR when said with a little attitude, "yes, I heard what you said, and my answer is no" or "yes, I heard you and I disagree."

People in the Northeast seem to use "yea, no [sometimes also another "yea" next]" to roughly mean "of course, not a problem".

Like when asking for a favor from someone who wants to make their agreement seem like you're not putting them out and they say: "yea, no, yea I'll be there by 4pm and can carry that stuff"

I guess the literal translation is "yea I can do that. No it's not a problem. Yes, I agree."

I guess we say that in the Midwest too. Usually as "yea, no, of course"
