I almost did.
It was still there. Stolen Prey by John Sanford. 
I had to drive through the area again. I didn't go out of my way, I just pulled over this time. It does sound like an interesting story. I left that copy there because it was soaking wet & pretty disgusting 😅 but maybe I'll read it someday. I don't read many novels.
