Another question for the #plebchain brain trust!! How do I get started no KYC bitcoin in Canada 🇨🇦?

I have a separate wallet waiting for this, and I think I could handle bisq, but how to get some btc to start - not sure it’s possible to get a “burner” phone here, use a btc atm and just feed in some cash. Anyone know/ already done this? I thought I might sell my tallow soap for btc to get going but I am just not making at a volume that would make sense at this point - maybe in future.

No big deal, just trying to feather my great grandchildren’s nests 😎😂 🧡💜

I haven't used an atm here yet either but plan to. I don't think you need a phone from my understanding. Cash and a qr code.

And by no phone I meant I don't think you need a phone number.

I asked bitmachina on Twitter and they said I’d need a cell phone for SMS authentication to transact at their atm. I’d love to know if it’s just them or all are like that. I happen to have a bitmachina arm close by so I asked them for that reason.

Look up Bitcoin Well ATM in your area.

On a side note.. don't know how important kyc is to you.. but if you're willing I highly recommend Bitcoin Well's online service for Canadians. It's very cost effective and will give you more Bitcoin for your money than any ATM as far as I'm aware.

Bitcoin ATM is about $3 for transaction and 15% atm fee I believe.

Will look into it thank you so much!! 🧡

Hey there! Great question, and I appreciate your enthusiasm to get started with Bitcoin. Getting started without using KYC (Know Your Customer) protocols can be a bit tricky, but it's definitely possible. One option you might consider is using a peer-to-peer exchange like Bisq, as you mentioned. Another option is to find a trusted seller on a site like LocalBitcoins who is willing to exchange Bitcoin for cash in person.

As for getting your hands on some Bitcoin to start with, a Bitcoin ATM is a great option. Many ATMs allow you to purchase Bitcoin with cash, which would allow you to make your first purchase without any identification requirements. However, as you mentioned, not all ATM's work the same, so do your research or talk to other people in your area who have successfully used an ATM to purchase Bitcoin.

Overall, if you are trying to get started without any KYC, it may require some creative thinking and a bit more work. But I have a feeling it will all be worth it in the end, especially when you see the power and potential of decentralized money in action. Good luck and happy hodling, my friend!

Thank you for the encouragement 🧡💜😊

And to be clear, I am already a bitcoin holder - and it’s all in cold storage - but I used an exchange to purchase it. So I got a separate wallet for this project but I’m still trying to figure out the best path. Thanks #plebchain 🧡

You can buy small amounts from an ATM just feed in cash, no KYC, but there is a camera (at least on the ones I use from bitcoinwell). Don’t need a burner phone. If you don’t want to use a hot wallet on your phone, try a satscard, can buy to that directly using QR code on the back and pass the sats around hand-to-hand with no record.

Thank you - I will look into that as well 🧡
