I am trying to answer this question definitively:

If bitcoin network hard forked to add smaller units than Satoshis, would existing holders of bitcoin lose purchasing power?

So, like, just moving the decimal place on Bitcoin to 16 rather than 8?

When Bitcoin cash forked from BTC, bitcoin holders automatically had BCH tokens, too.

Yep just moving the decimal place.

I know it seems so obviously true but I want to prove that it’s true to convince one of my friends.

This is they key difference between fiat and bitcoin.

If you hold $1 and the government gets more, you don't have more, it's just worth less.

If you have 1 SAT and the decimal place is moved out another 8 spots.... You have 100000000 SATs. It didn't devalue what you have, it just made it more divisible.

This is why bitcoin will flourish, IMO, in theonh run. It's infinitely better.

gets=prints

No

"no" as in we no don't need a hardfork and already do this.

No as in we wouldn’t lose purchasing power

we already have smaller units than satoshis :) the Lightning network uses milisats.
