If you attend major bitcoin events. Don't take your main phone.
Discussion
Meh. Get a de-googled phone and stop worrying so much.
How to use navigation without Google maps?
I think open street maps?
Is there a way to make it actually say the directions out loud? Also, anyway to enhance the search? It seems like it will navigate well to streets, but not address numbers, and the business addresses are often missing
Can’t say I’ve given it much love to be true to you I just know it exists
well said. going to conferences with a pen and paper instead of laptop has many benefits beyond privacy as well
Why is that?
Your main phone is probably tracking everything you do. And it'll track you going to a Bitcoin conference.
Who cares? There are too many of us for them to realistically do anything about if we all stand tall and stand together. Recruit more outspoken bitcoiners. Make it impossible for them to act with aggression or malice against us.
GrapheneOS and a healthy dose of Paranoia for the win!
Three options:
-Waze. Technically owned by Google, but, it's one layer of obfuscation away from Google. Stellar incident and police location reporting.
-Magic Earth. Not open source, but, VERY good.
-Organic maps. The best of the OSM based navigation, but, hog-tied by poor human interface in regards to address lookup, just like all OSM based maps are. Better in stone areas than others, depending on how autistic contributors are in an area.
All of these offer voice nav.
And you certainly can use real maps while driving. 🤷♂️
