I work in the legal field (US) too, so i get where you are coming from.
Regardless of where you are, if you fuck with the state in a real way, they will make your life hard.

And, as a patriot of my own country, I have respect for people wanting to establish their own sovereignty against tyranny. And perhaps this guy has done that and so well done, but most people do not have the resources or will to do such a thing and end up getting thrown in prison when they try some of this stuff in front of cops and judges in my country.
I have the same respect. Not only do you need resources, you also need to be very capable handling yourself in violent (or potentially violent) situations. Most are not capable.
