Ok, so I have always been on the side of #Apple when it comes to policies that most people hate. I usually attribute it to their self-entitlement and/or age based ignorance, so I understand.

However, I find myself scratching my head, in regards to why @Damus can’t zap people. 🤔

I mean, you’re not buying something from #damus, their subscription goes through Apple, so they are obviously getting their take from that, but why the fuck can’t we use zaps between users?

One, you’re not technically sending cash and two, it’s between users, it has nothing to do with the client you’re using.

It can’t be as simple as, “if we’re not getting our cut, you can’t use it”, can it?

And if that’s the case, why is the zap option available on Primal?

Have you decided if you are self entitled or ignorant because of your age?

Fuck off.

You have a script that you can run on Damus and it enables the zap option 👌

I understand that, I already ran it, lol.

I’m trying to figure out why Apple had it removed in the first place and why it’s on Primal.

Apple removed it because they can't take their cut profit from it, and by their understanding zaping note are like "selling" the note..

Because primal uses a non sourveign wallet that allows you to buy sats by apple pay and they get their cut on it i think

I figured that was the case with the first part, even if it is a bit greedy, even by my standards.

They may double dip, but I have only noticed Apple takes a piece from apps that are free. That’s what Spotify and Epic couldn’t seem to grasp. They’re not going to house your app without some form of compensation. So, I guess I would be very interested in knowing, if Damus had to be purchased, would they ease up on the in app stuff.🤔

The second, I was not aware of and that actually makes sense, appreciate it.

Also, pay no mind to the other person in this thread, he seems to lack reading comprehension. And since I have muted him, I have no idea what kind of nonsense he may still be spewing.

Damus will not do the same move as Primal because they want to be a self sourveign app

I mean charging for the app. If Apple gets a slice of that, they may relax their hold on zaps.

BTW, good morning.😊

Apple is dictatorship. You can't customize their products.. Even Chrome must use Safari's web engine.. Whyyy 😑

LMAO, no it’s not. Otherwise, people wouldn’t continue to use their products and willingly at that.

I’m tired of hearing people say Apple locked them in instead of taking responsibility for their own actions.

You knew what #apple was about when you jumped on board, so, nobody “locked you in” but yourself. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some people, like myself, are willing to deal with their shenanigans to have a more cohesive and integrated experience.

Honestly, there are only two things I miss, a proper keyboard, but you can download another, and the ability to download torrents, cuz, fuck Hollywood.

Apple can do what they want.

#notedeck

Most companies can, but thanks for stopping by..

They can, but it's ok to criticize them for it. Criticism is crucial part of how market can regulate them without state intervention.

Customers need to know there is somethink wrong with product so they can by different.

There is no recourse with apple for the issue brought up in the original post.

The solution is to build on top of zaps on other platforms.

#notedeck

Solution is to use other platforms. Which you want to know before buing iPhone and so vocal criticism is way how inform users about problem.

afaik primal can’t use nwc, so apparently apple is ok with the wallet if its kyc and has apple pay integration? Its all nonsense. They think they can control money in cyberspace. They are wrong

I’m more interested in knowing, if you charged for the app and they got a piece of that, would they loosen up their restrictions on zaps?

You could argue the subscription fee they get a piece of, but not everyone subscribes.

Which brings me back to something I said earlier, they’re not going to host your app in their store for free, you would be stupid to think otherwise, so I’m not sure what you’re mad about.🤷🏻‍♂️

That would be like walking into Walmart, clearing some shelf space and then saying, hey, I am going to use your name and reach to push my product but I’m not going to give you anything for it. Yeah, no, it doesn’t work that way.

You answered your own question, it’s not about them getting a cut, if it was Primal would have been banned from doing it also. This was a technical issue. It’s easy (and some think it makes them look cool) to criticize Apple. But they have been consistent.

Also the appstore is proprietary software, they’re responsible for it and the apps on it. And I appreciate having an appstore where I don’t have to worry about malicious apps, like android.
