Unfortunately there are just few people who knows it and use the proper tools. But whatever.

Some people didn't know... Then didn't care because the damage was done and they couldn't change it. Some still don't know.

Is there any point, if I’ve used nostr on my home network, switching to a VPN? Or is it too late to do anything about it?

Will not erase the data that has been collected but you should use VPN all the time
