Grew my first jalapeño. I don't know why it's red (the smaller ones are green), but dang is it spicy.

It was green at one point

It was, yeah. Probably need to pick sooner?

They charge more for red peppers in the stores because of the longer time to maturation

Had no idea. Assumed there'd be a sign of when it was time to pick it.

What tastes better? This one is so spicy a sliver kept my mouth watering for no less than 5 minutes

I usually pick them when green and pickle them because they’re usually so hot

Thanks. I'll research more soon

Both 😁

I'm a homesteader now ralph.gif

I have a jalapeño tree. It's been alive for 3 years kicking out hot 🔥 stuff.

Awesome. Have this and a habanero that started out as small plants from store a few months ago. Going strong. Time to pick many soon

You use them to make the chipotle

Only a few days old, but check this out. Opted to just get started with a smaller batch using the overpriced beans I'd gotten. Will do a proper sized one when I get cheaper beans in future

Nice!

They are killer spicy.🥵

You're not kidding. A tiny cross sectional sliver had mouth watering for 5 minutes, and I'm pretty spice tolerant. Found its way into dinner and gave whole dish a nice subtle added flavor

😂

it’s mature
