I don't remember how similar / different they are, but the main difference is that the 1960 version was b&w, so the albino effect is a lot more efficient. I think I liked the original better, but it's been a long time since I watched them.

I thought the 1960 version was better. Imdb agrees, although that's usually not a guarantee.
