The whole idea of planting trees under whose shade you'll never sit really resonates with me.

I'm a huge fan of this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxVyuE2Nn_w
Thank God my son is a gamer. Any recommendations for story-adventure-survival-pc-games? 🥸
I really like the old Lucas graphical adventure games: Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Monkey Island 1, 2 and 3, Indiana Jones, Loom. Some of them have remastered editions that make it easier to play, but I think GoG made a really good job with their versions too. They are puzzley games that make you think out of the box sometimes. They have great stories too. I learned a lot of English playing those games as a kid.
I'll think about the podcast and I'll get back to you. I think it would be a good idea, though, I just need to find some time.
I will follow back any young fathers on nostr. Regardless of ideological or political differences.
We have to have each others backs gentlemen.

I'm not a "young" father, but I do have younger kids. They changed my life for the better in a significant way.
It is great. We have observations and discussion group at the end of the day. We care deeply for each other's kids too, so the sense of community is a huge part of why we are in it. It makes homeschooling / unschooling easier when you're not alone. And Montessori materials are expensive too, so having a community to share the cost with helps a lot.
My son is really proud when he tells people he doesn't have to sit still in a classroom to listen to what a teacher has to say. He gets to choose his own work and materials and that makes him happy. And he is most definitely more advanced than kids his age in traditional schooling.
We split it between homeschooling and a Montessori homeschooling group. The community around it is excellent.

What exactly is a pizza consultant? As a teenage mutant ninja turtle that caught my attention.
I just posted in your other note. I'm a translator and willing to help. I have read your articles and I find them very valuable.
The problem you'll face with that is that Google / FB obviously work better. I selfhost Nextcloud and I like it, but unless people are made aware of why you shouldn't use centralized, Big Tech stuff all they'll see is a subpar alternative.
Why get a NC account when everybody has FB / Google already and it offers a beautiful garden? Most people don't know that the garden is walled, but of those who know or are made aware only a small fraction will care.
I'm in homeschooling groups. I haven't tried to descentralized or FLOSSify them. I had little success with friends and family in the past and I'm jaded...
That being said, nostr:nprofile1qqsd3uut39959acqsvzua0chkjyj2e20y2ccp3vxrwq3g8uqenmjsjqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgkwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxxmmfdehhxtnfduhszxthwden5te0d4ex2cmgv4jhxefwxgck66tv9ekk2tcxnhsg6 if you plan to create some sort of homeschooling platform based on free software, I'd be happy to help.
I didn’t grow up with gentle parenting. So I had to figure it out from scratch.
That’s why I wrote the book Parenting Forward—for every parent trying to break the cycle without a blueprint.
I’ve been editing the old-school way—pages printed, chapters laid out all over the table, pen in hand. It’s messy and slow and exactly how I need to do this part.
The book is almost done.
And soon, I’ll be 💥 looking for beta readers.
If you're a parent who’s doing the hard, quiet work of healing while raising little ones—you’re exactly who I had in mind.
Stay tuned. 💛
(And if you're already raising your hand to be an early reader—drop a comment or send me a message. I’d love that.)

How ling is the book? I'd like to be a beta reader, but not sure if I can commit to it.
I don't remember how similar / different they are, but the main difference is that the 1960 version was b&w, so the albino effect is a lot more efficient. I think I liked the original better, but it's been a long time since I watched them.
