I can't understand the mind of a theist. Giving up logic and reason for feel good fairy tales seems like a bad trade to me.
Discussion
I can't understand the mind of an atheist. In the face of love he will deny God. This seems like a fatal error (as in the software is corrupted).
I mean, a little evidence isn't a big ask.
love is the evidence
Even I didn't expect a reply that retarded
Even if the scripture was a fairy tale like you say, why do you choose to oppose it?
Oppose? I just don't see evidence. You can't oppose what doesn't have evidence of existing. Do you "oppose" the tooth fairy?
Like I said the atheist programming is broken. The transcendentals are the most obvious evidence for the rational mind. And if they aren't objectively true, nothing matters including your random shouts into the void.
Admitting that I do not know the answers is strength, not weakness and in fact makes the world we live matter more than what it would if I believed in an afterlife. You value nothing real.
it's not strength when the truth is right in front of you. It's capitulation to ignore what humans have acknowledged for thousands of years: the spiritual is very real. You have not found strength. You have found a dead end that leaves you disconnected from humanity.
You might look into pineal gland therapy. Your gland may be calcified to the point where you actually are unable to detect the spiritual. It's a significant problem that has a range of causes but often can be corrected.
If it is true, then there would be testable evidence with a sound conclusion derived from that evidence.
You can't apply physical methods to test for a spiritual reality. You need different tools. Same way you don't use a tape measure to assess someone's character.
Okay, what tools do I need? Any links on amazon you can send over?
already told you. you need a functioning pineal gland and the mental tools to understand the transcendentals. If you have neither, you won't likely make any progress.
How convenient for you.
Hostility won't help you. You've got some rabbit holes to go down.
I guess I need incentive to do that. The world seems great the way it is in front of me, honestly.
Ignorance is bliss, I guess.
Definitely feeling great. No spiritual stuff required.
And yet you sense something is wrong or you wouldn't see the need for bitcoin or nostr. If there's no human soul, there's nothing to offend. I mean, really, why does any of it matter? What difference does it make if you're a slave or free, alive or dead? If there's no spiritual, there's no real meaning, and if there's no meaning, none of it makes a difference on way or another. The end of materialism is nihilism.
If you don't find meaning in life without "spiritual" then I truly DEEPLY feel sorry for you. The meaning in life is to cherish moments and build bonds, because we all return to the same oblivion as pre-conception. That fact is what makes living NOW have so much more meaning and the world have so much more beauty. You are the slave, sir.
lol. You finish your little shout into the void with a positive assertion. But if Truth doesn't exist outside of us, there is no basis for your noise. You can claim nothing. I suppose you can take solace in that I belive you have worth because I believe you are evidence God exists.
If an extra-demensional deity exists that interferes with our lives and knows all then life is cheapened. I refuse to see it that way. Life is beautiful, and the future is not written and not known. Life is beautiful by itself and that's all it needs. You are a slave to your fear and I truly feel sorry for you.
It's not fear that seeks the source of love, hope, truth, beauty and goodness. You say you refuse to do a thing, so the problem isn't mine. I am seeking transcendence while your affection is for dirt. You have limited yourself, but without wanting to, you still live within the rules of the eternal principles. It's a fact that your worldview can't dispute.
The source doesn't matter at all. The only thing that matters is that it's there.
What is your basis for saying a source doesn't matter? What if someone else says it does matter? Who is right?
There is no right or wrong, just perspective. I just don't understand, as I said in the original post, the perspective of a theist. We can all agree live is beautiful and things matter, I guess I just wonder why that isn't enough for most people...especially people that go so far as to invent stories and fantasy to fill that void that they so desperately seek.
But see, one of point points is that all you can honestly say is that you don't understand. You can make no other judgements about what people do or don't related to a realm you don't acknowledge (or understand). You can't make truth claims because you don't have the means to substantiate them. You're better off just saying you don't understand and then stopping there. It's a better way to make friends.
You may find this interesting
Logic and reason is mainly why I believe there's a creator instead of all this complexity just magically appearing by chance.
Atheists will readily admit any complex artifact has to be man-made, but insist that infinitely more complex biological structures are just chance mistakes.
Literally no atheist I've ever met says that.
Please explain how life came from prebiotic earth.
I don't know.
I think we should have fun thinking about it. And I know I don’t know.
“The first gulp from the natural sciences will make you an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.”
-Heisenberg
It’s just a quote… but it kind of reflects the “the more you know the more questions you have” philosophy
Questions are good. Questions drive me more then the answers. Cherishing life and the small moments like playing catch with my kids is what life is about. That's happiness. That's fulfillment. Death is just a friend you get to see again, since we were with death, oblivion, before conception anyway. Religion is a crutch based on fear, not enlightenment.
Christopher Hitchens started suggesting life on earth came from aliens because DNA code is too precise to not have intelligent origins.
If you want empirical evidence study DNA. It is a complex form of machine language that tells cells how to form complex processes and organisms. The amount of DNA information that exists in the world would fill libraries if written down. Hitchens saw that there was no way to explain DNA without God, so he careened into alien silliness before he died.
Interesting hypothesis but I think at the end of the day most can admit simply they don't know and there's nothing wrong with that.
This was an interesting conversation to me, and worth reading if you're interested in questions of eternal transcendentals.
What does giving up mean here?
