Older people and I have always had an affinity for each other. I feel like I am better understood. We get to be of service to each other too.
My new 83 year old friend just texted to check up on me. Couple days ago she had offered me her hospitality in case I get stranded. Then shared a sweet affirmative advice m, and it really warmed up my heart.
Makes me feel held by the universe.
I; too, have always had a close connection with the older generation or those older than me. I feel as though they understand me better than friends my age. Maybe it’s because I have more life experience than them or feel things much differently or see things in a different light than them. I have always thoroughly enjoyed their company connecting on a much deeper level. Their words of wisdom and understanding cannot compete. They are sweeter while they also don’t hold back and don’t sugar coat things. They are a true treasure! ❤️ I have a second cousin who is almost 93 who’s as sharp as a tack with an incredible memory. We can and have spent hours on the phone with each other.

I’ve had many “adoptive grandparents” as I call them. There are so many beautiful souls. I often find there’s so much to learn and listen to when connecting with these wonderful humans whether they are family, friends or even strangers.
I once had a retired man who I would periodically chat with on the sidewalk while I delivered newspapers as a very young girl deliver a box of chocolates to my house as a Christmas surprise. I don’t believe we even knew each others names.
Sometimes I think it is because we have lived many lives before and we somehow unconsciously recall how it is to be old, so we could understand and be understood by older generation.
