This version which is the most commonly seen and used equation to explain bitcoin’s issuance schedule is A) not in the white paper.

B) not how it is actually exactly implemented in code.

When I started to dig into it to better understand it myself, I came across these two realizations, and was surprised by them.

I think this discussion is worthy of a longer article so I will add more thoughts into this thread… but also may expand it to a reddit post or Medium article.
