affinity is great, bought that too. sadly not available on linux

Yeah, it is a shame. Adobe was the only thing still keeping me on Windows, and I haven't found a suitable Linux replacement yet.

i run win 7 in a vm to use the creative suite, works well enough

LibreOffice works great for me. Open source and free of charge. 😉

I use Collabora within Nextcloud, very nice alternative too.
