Unless you control much of your OS and are running a messaging system where everything routes through your own server(s) there's there's going to be a much higher probability of an attack vector on you.

I run a Google Pixel 9 with graphene OS and Simplex messaging routed through my own server.

If I message somebody outside of this same setup there's a potential for compromisation. for example I messaged somebody running Simplex through my server who operates on Apple iOS. Apple could technically intercept a message.

Good thing I don't have anything super exciting to hide but in a world of ever increasing authoritarian dictatorship. Best to get started on unfucking your lack of privacy.

Moral of the story is be in control of everything your intellectual ability will allow. If not, get learnt.

Makes sense. Is running your own server relatively easy? I’m not an extreme techy person.

I wouldn't call myself extreme relative to those I know who are, there are many options such as start 9's server. You can run nodes, you can run simplex, amongst other things. Not too crazy to get set up following some directions

Interesting!! I will keep following along and perhaps try it out. 😊

setting up graphene OS on a pixel phone is incredibly easy.

I’ll need to do some reading on graphene although I see it being a common practice on Nostr.
