Verification works similarly, I add a userhandle and pubkey to nostr.json file and host it on my Github page. The subdomain's A record points to the Github page containing the file.
I provide assistance via DM for anyone who would like to get a verified NIP05 identifier on my domain for those who can't afford the time or money to set one up themselves. I am providing it free for now to help new folks on boarding Nostr with a quick setup if they want to. Also, if anyone contacts me, I usually try to recommend them to have one setup themselves on their domain or subdomain via Github pages and if they still want to proceed with my service they are welcome to.

'nico' is already registered by another pubkey/user. Do you have any other @name that you want?
You can have NIP05 setup on multiple domains/subdomains/DNS and whatever name@domain.com you set in your profile will be the one that is used to confirm your verification by the client by validating it from that domain's server.
And on the search what I've noticed is on astra.ninja if you type domain.com to search profiles, it'll show your profile on both domains. So for example if you type nosterplebs.com it'll show your profile there and also if you type orangepill.dev it would as well.
