To give you an understanding of my ability level, here is a picture representative of my previous experience ..

For basic, day-to-day usage, something like Mint or Ubuntu will get you up and running quickly.

Once you get the hang of one of those, you can thereafter experiment with other distros, depending on your needs.

I've tried Ubuntu, it feels .. annoying

Mint may be the next test

Thanks šŸ¤™šŸ¼

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about Ubuntu? That would be helpful to know in recommending other distros.

The look and feel was like I was playing some sort of kids video game.

I didn't like the method for installation and removal of apps .. folders seemed to be left around with me unable to delete them (maybe I was doing it wrong, but Mint has been so much better at this).

Ubuntu felt difficult to navigate for a new(ish) user.

The askUbuntu "help" forum seems to assume knowledge of previous command line experience (everyone answers questions in a way that leads to more questions).

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that with enough time I'd be able to navigate my way through Ubuntu with very little friction. However, for now, I need something that gives a helping hand without being too technical to use (which is also NOT Windows)

Hope this helps

Sorry for the delay. It's been a crazy couple of days.

Any operating system will have some kind of learning curve, but I agree that Linux in general requires a bit more time and...lots of tinkering. Heck, even Windows, as you mentioned, has its quirks that need to be figured out.

While Ubuntu is generally a good starting point, there are some oddities (like files being left behind). You'll still run into some of these with Mint, but hopefully you've found it a smoother experience overall.

If you're still willing to toy around with at least one other distribution, I'd recommend Zorin OS as being relatively user-friendly. If you do end up trying it, I'd be interested to hear your feedback:

I'll have a look and report back here as soon as I've had a play

Thanks šŸ¤™šŸ¼

The logo looks like an 80s kids TV show .. but I have heard good things .. I'll give it a go after I've had a look at Mint

Thanks šŸ¤™šŸ¼

Also, I can't seem to zap ⚔ you .. šŸ¤·šŸ»

Working for me. Where are you zapping from?

It doesn't even open my wallet (Phoenix) ..

How bizarre. Tried from anywhere else?

.. how bizarre indeed ..

As soon as I try to zap you I get this error message, I can't even open a wallet to try to zap you .. I've also just tried going to your profile and tapping on your wallet address, again I get the same error .. I've zapped 3 other people so far today, no error messages

šŸŽ¶ how bizarre šŸŽ¶

Just tried from Plebstr and it just takes to my wallet of choice, no invoice is generated .. seems to be cross platform .. has anyone else encountered this issue with zapping you? šŸ¤™šŸ¼
