In Australia we have a saying "real men don't each quiche". It's usually followed by something like "but I'll have a serve of your egg pie please".
Seeing your lovely egg pie reminded me of a carnivore recipe I used to make but haven't in years.

It's pretty much the same as yours but without the pastry, with ground beef & a lot more cheese/cream cheese. I like it topped with a ketchup & American (yellow?) mustard.
Omg that sounds so delicious!! I like to think that the butter pretty much makes the pastry an animal by-product too... So justifiable 😂😂

For some reason adding the ground beef changed it so that I didn't miss the pastry. Egg pie without pastry just isn't the same.
Mad props for making the pastry yourself - I'm more concerned about seed oil than carbs these days. I'm forever a fan of butter.

the best egg recipe in the world though is the Komplet Lepinja from southern Serbia

it's very simple, you just get one of those round buns, like a giant burger bun (they are called lepinja in serbian), you need some grease and meat juice from frying up some meat, salt, lightly mixed egg, and then bake it gently in an oven so the top gets crunchy as well and the egg all sets, and that's it
i ate one made by a guy from the most famous town where this dish originated, Uzhitse (uzice) southwest of belgrade, near the main road towards sarajevo. i felt like superman after eating it. fantastic for a rakija hangover lol
