It's possible that Google could lock the bootloader on future Pixel phones to only support officially Google signed boot images; it would lock out current GrapheneOS. Would they?

In that case, CalyxOS and /e/OS would be unaffected on the Fairphone. PureOS, Mobian, postmarketOS would still be on the PinePhone, Librem 5 and FairPhone.

They've slowly been moving towards an "apple like" walled garden, so wouldn't surprise me.

Remember Postmarketos also works on many older phones.

The way to control mobile communication is to lock down the devices to a locked down system, eg. Only authorised devices can connect to the system & make calls & access the internet.

For several years, an alternative internet has been in development. The internet has always been free, the biggest hurdle has always been the connection!

Yeah, the wide hardware support for postmarketOS is great.

Verizon has been like that when connecting from tiny LTE-M devices — like the SparkFun LTE CAT M1 (SARA-R4) shields.
