Can nostr keys be “translated” to a some sort of memorizable seed phrase, akin to BIP39 words? nostr:note1692vpn5k60ywvd5n3t9ky7jj2pn9man25v2h48q2lnd0jzecu3qsm3sgzc

Maybe something even more simple like a dumb password if key is revocable via nsecbunker nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft

🤔

Yes. Keys are just a sequence of bytes and that can be converted to bits, sliced by every 11 bits for a word from the bip39 list. In most cases it won't have a matching checksum but it will still be valid for reversing

Awesome. So one could theoretically memorize their nsec this way 🤔

Yes.

And if you don't want to memorize too many sets of words, then you could ... Remember 1 set, and derive wallets, as well as a new nsec, from different passphrases or derivable entropy with BIP85

Oh that’s dope. Thanks!

What does Current utilize? When you create a new account there, they give you 12 words....

Is that just the in-client wallet or is the nsec also tied to it?

Unsure how to test if another client doesn't provide the option to restore that way...

I haven’t seen or heard of that in any other clients yet

Just zbd, but doesn't seem like it's the same, as I haven't seen nostr implementation yet.

Yes. Snort uses this when you creat an account on their website. I’m not sure how they do it though.

Very cool
