When Nostr gets reasonable DM privacy and groups, even normies can use it as one of their many messaging apps, no problem. Push notifications keep them returning. Great way to onboard people onto Nostr and Bitcoin.

I agree, DM and (private) groups are the simplest way to onboard. Pair them with good non-social but naturally integrated apps, add the possibility to trasfer value and show your appreciation with v4v, and you will get viral adoption.
Not sure about that, I write to my friends and family on Signal (the ones who have it installed) and they answer back on whatsapp, they don't care, "I have nothing to hide"
