also, as a tangent, and not truly in the spirit of the second amendment when it was being written but now kinda falls under it in a way or at least in discourse:
we do not have a high enough predator population in this country re: deer management and other typically defined as "prey" species
to me, you are so lucky if you live in a place where there is a season and you can help the health of local populations while also filling your freezer for the winter
if anything, i think the oversight is way way way too strict
as in: if you accidentally hit a deer with your car and bring it home and butcher it yourself and put it in your freezer
you should not have to stress cos dont have a tag
idk if this is state by state, im not an expert and the name of the bureau escapes me right now but i know in new york state they do not need a warrant to go thru your freezer
and that's simply weird to me
cos a great overabundance of deer
as in: you would think you simply would not bother to allocate resources to enforcement of deer tags to deer taken
unless we are talking like a huge multinational deer jerky company that clearly is a massacre meat grinder or something else clearly highly unusual and making big profit
im just talking personal use
as in: makes a huge difference if a family of six can supplement groceries in the winter with a couple deer too
im saying subsistence hunters should not ever be stressing a knock at the door
that just creates animus where there was no need to create it
as in: why would that be in any government's interest?
