The fact that things are open, free to develop and use, is a motivator for absolutely nobody except for the dozen people already here:

Community is the motivator to use and develop;

An open protocol reduces the barriers to do so, but by itself is worthless.

Fuck 'build it and they will come', nobody is comming, they are already at the place someone build years ago.

Rather, make them come and they will build.
