I made a simpler version of Duo Lingo just for fun in #ShakespeareDIY. This was $3.40 in credits using #MKStack.

This is super basic. (Just one prompt, I didn't even bother to ask the AI to put it in dark mode). Here's the prompt I used:

please build a simple duo lingo like app: A Duolingo-type app in simple MVP front-end terms would be:

Home screen → Shows your daily goal, current streak, and “Start Lesson” button.

Lesson screen → One question at a time (e.g., match words, translate sentence, multiple choice).

Answer feedback → Simple correct/incorrect check with green ✅ or red ❌, maybe a quick tip.

Progress bar → Fills as you complete questions in the lesson.

Basic navigation → Tabs for “Learn,” “Profile,” and “Settings.”

Minimal design → Bright colors, large buttons, no fancy animations beyond what’s necessary for clarity.

đź’ˇ Not sure how to describe a simple MVP in front end terms? Ask your AI of choice to do it!

Nice!

you are an $340, right? I've never spent less than $70 on anything meaningful in Shakespeare

All of mine are super simple, the most I've racked up is $27.05, and probably because I prompted many, many times on Miner Girl Summer. Also prompted a lot to come up with my own version of Nostr Angry Birds.

I also always end up paying way more. And you use Claude sonnet as the model?

Yes. It depends on how far you get into it… I racked up $200 on a project yesterday because I debugged. I also created it an admin panel…which was how it got buggy. It was more complicated.

I think if you’re more a power user, you’re going to go deeper into really creating the app. $$$

If you just want something super simple that is going to come from 1 prompt (like my duo lingo clone I didn’t debug) just for fun, a few bucks will knock it out. $

And also, prompting well helps. The more you ask if to do… the more the cost grows.

I would love to turn this sort of application into a type of blueprint and then users can easily add new "stacks" like new questions or lessens

This is a great idea đź’ˇ
